Camera two, Carey zero

So far I have spent the morning fighting with my camera....I think it's winning!
While battling with photography this morning I thought of our friends Tim and Kara and realized that I should really call upon them (the professionals) for some "taking pictures of a light" pointers :) They have the gift and talent of taking absolutely amazing pictures. I highly recommend checking out their work! Kara and Tim of Fly Away Home Studios........I need your help :)

Now back to my amateur shots :) I think this little blue piece is my favorite!!! It is 21 inches tall by 8 inches wide and has 21 hollow bubbles accented in blue. The black wrought iron base has a mirrored back that softly reflects the light from 3 LED's anchored above. Oh if I could only capture it properly in a picture :) I hope you like it!!!

I'm still working on arranging the lighting with the little yellowish colored beads.....it's fighting back, but I think I may win that particular battle.....

I think I'm missing a virtue

It's been a productive day so far....I have a kiln full of beads from this morning, I ran some errands and stained the wood for my next illuminated piece...now I'm in the patiently wait mode while the beads cool and the stain dries....hmmmm, something I've never been good at.

To help pass the time....here's a quick picture of the beads for my next illuminated piece....I'm hoping they help produce that warm light that's so cozy in a dimly lit room!!
.......I think I will go and check to see if the stain is dry....(patience is not one of my strong points...)

Born this Way

The expressions, talent and personality of this little girl makes me smile....apparently a twitter post by Lady Gaga has helped to make her an internet sensation...click here to check it out! Really uplifting!

Beads of Courage

I don't know if you are familiar, but there is an amazing organization out there doing amazing things!!! I'm talking about Beads of Courage. They are a phenomenal group that helps brighten the days and lives of children with cancer. You can read all about them on their website here!
They also had a segment on CBS that will bring you to tears...watch it here!

I just sent in a donation of beads and hope to send in more soon! (I just have to find which box has my bead stash in it.....) All you glass makers out there, donate beads for this fantastic cause!! Don't make beads? no worries...you can donate money through their website too!

Illumination

I've been fighting with my camera for the last 30 minutes and have come to the conclusion that it is just not easy capturing a true photo of a light....that being said, I'm really excited to show you my first Illuminated Wall Art!!!! It hangs approximately 4 1/2 feet tall by 1 foot wide, and features 49 hollow glass beads ranging from 20 cm to 45 cm in size. It is illuminated with 6 LED lights recessed into ebony stained wood. I love how the light reflects off the glass onto the wall (something not well captured by my photography I'm afraid...)!

I've already started the glass for my next piece that will be quite different and can't wait to show you that in the upcoming weeks!

In the meantime....be sure to check out my etsy shop later....I will be posting some long overdo loose beads for all you bead addicts :)
